OPM Issues Final Rule Updating Pathways Programs

Posted on Apr 16 2024 - 09:10

On April 11, 2024, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued a final rule on the Pathways Programs designed to significantly expand opportunities for early career talent in the federal government. The final rule is one of the most significant actions the federal government has taken since the program’s inception 14 years ago.

Individuals who successfully complete one of the Pathways Programs may be eligible for a permanent job in the federal civil service. The three programs are Interns, Recent Graduates, and the Presidential Management Fellows Program.

Read the news release OPM News Release: Final Rule Updating Pathways Programs, an overview Students & Recent Graduates: Pathways Programs Final Rule Overview, and the full regulation at Pathways Programs Final Rule. This rule is effective June 11, 2024. Agencies must be in full compliance with this final rule no later than December 9, 2024.

As a result of the new rule, we will be updating the PMF website content and resources over the coming weeks.
