Become a PMF
Applying is only the first
The PMF Program accepts applications annually. When the
application window opens, you will find an announcement on USAJOBS
(search for "Presidential Management Fellows" at www.USAJOBS.gov). We strongly encourage you to
review the entire Become A PMF section of this website,
including the Frequently
Applying to the Program is only the first step in becoming a
PMF. During the application process, you must take an on-line
assessment, submit a resume and transcript, and complete the
on-line essays. Applicants will be further evaluated for
selection as Semi-Finalists and invited to participate in the
in-person assessment. Top performing Semi-Finalists will be named
as Finalists. Finalists are eligible for appointment as a Fellow
with a participating agency.

The browser requirements for
the systems used during the application and on-line assessment
process appear below. Please use the recommended browsers and
settings. To prevent inconsistencies and any technical problems,
applicants should refrain from using other browsers not
The application system is optimized for Internet Explorer 8, 9,
and 10, and Firefox 4+. Functionality may not appear as designed
for later versions of Internet Explorer. These are the same
requirements for when Semi-Finalists use Event Scheduler to
schedule their in-person assessment.
It is recommended that you clear your cache by deleting your
browser history under your Tools/Internet Options menu before
creating a user account and applying to the program.
Note to Apple users: The Safari browser is not fully
compatible with the application. The same applies for many smart
phone and tablet applications.
Make sure that you have the latest version of
Player installed on your computer and avoid using
devices that are not compatible with Flash.

Document File Types
Applies to documents (resume, transcript, and supporting files)
submitted during the application process:
- File format must be in gif image (.gif), jpeg image (.jpg), png
image (.png), rich text format (.rtf), Microsoft Word (.doc or
.docx), Adobe pdf (.pdf), or Word Perfect (.wpd)
- File size must not exceed 3MB (megabytes) per file
- Upload each document in the respective section
- File must not include macros or scripts of any kind
During the application period, email is the best way to
communicate with the PMF Program Office. Therefore, please provide
a current email address in your application that you can access
throughout the application, assessment and selection processes.
Please consider using a third-party email provider instead of your
school or work email address.
When creating a User Account to apply to the PMF Program, please
ensure the email address you provide is current and accessible
throughout the application, assessment, and selection process. If
you have previously applied to the PMF Program, do NOT create an
additional account. The system only allows a single account to be
associated to a Social Security Number and email address; you
should use your previous account. Follow the instructions on the
login screen if you have forgotten your password.
During the application process, you will be prompted to enter
Personal Information (e.g., contact information). Please avoid
using dashes, commas, and apostrophes in the name fields.
Also, add the following email addresses to your allowed email
list and/or email address book: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
